How to treat hypopigmentation produced by laser burns

The combination of photosensitizers, both taken orally (Fenadul capsules) and applied topically (Fenadul Gel), and UVB phototherapy offers great results in the treatment of hypopigmentation caused by post-laser burns.

Hypopigmentation is the decrease or absence of melanin in the epidermis. It can be caused by different things, such as vitiligo, burns and injuries (caused, for example, by laser hair removal, following surgery, etc.), and other conditions which can affect melanin production (pityriasis alba, pityriasis versicolor or post-inflammatory hypomelanosis produced by psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, etc).

On this occasion, we are going to analyse hypopigmentation caused by post-laser burns.

The combination of photosensitizers with UVB phototherapy offers great results in the repigmentation of depigmented areas by favouring melanin synthesis.

L-Phenylalanine inhibits the production of antibodies against melanocytes and activates the melanocytes affected in the presence of solar radiation, stimulating the production of melanocytes from the pigmented areas to the depigmented areas.

Treatment is recommended three times a week, combining the capsules (45 minutes before phototherapy) with application of the gel (30 minutes before phototherapy).
The administration of L-Phenylalanine increases tolerance to exposure to the sun or phototherapy on the hypopigmented areas, which are more sensitive to burns, allowing suitable pigmentation.
